Many historians, after studying civilizations in the past, state that the average age of the world’s greatest civilizations is approximately 200 years, and then those civilizations start to rapidly decline and degrade. Note that Great Britain has already exceeded the average age of a civilization- compare it today with its power in the past. Historians have identified 10 stages that each of the great civilizations in the world passed through from their birth to their decline to their death:

1. Bondage to spiritual faith.
2. Spiritual faith to great courage.
3. Great courage to liberty.
4. Liberty to abundance.
5. Abundance to selfishness.
6. Selfishness to complacency.
7. Complacency to apathy.
8. Apathy to moral decay.
9. Moral decay to dependence.
10. Dependence to bondage.

Note that the first generation shakes off bondage only to have a later generation allow itself to once again be enslaved. There are interesting symptoms associated with each of these phases, particularly near the end, where they get noticeably worse- lack of manners, lack of respect to the elderly, decline of the family, the importance and pursuit of the material, decadence and instant self-gratification, etc.

I am posting the description here, so that we can discuss where the U.S. is in this process in our other forum- "Where is the U.S. and World in the Lifespan of Civilizations?". Please add any other symptoms or descriptions you know, relating to the various steps, or any other observations about societal lifespans.
